There is nothing quite like the trio of classic beauty looks; the ultimate red lip, feline flick, and smoky eye, but it is the latter that really comes into its own come party season. Up the ante this winter with our step-by-step guide to the alternative frosted take on the traditional festive look.

Start by framing your eyes using a black or charcoal grey pencil eyeliner. Carefully line your upper and lower lash lines with the pencil at a slight angle to create a softer line.
Using a silver eye shadow cream as your base for the smoky eye, begin by blending it into the inner corners of your eye and under your brow bone to highlight. Diffuse a little bit of the colour just under the eye as well to give an ethereal finish.
Layer a darker, graphite shade of grey eye shadow on top of your metallic base, blending constantly to emphasise the smoky effect. Remember the colours should get more intense towards the outer corner of your eyes, so start here first, moving inwards.
Finish with a few coats of black mascara and you’re good to go. Keep the rest of your face minimal with nude, matte lips to keep all the attention on your dramatic eyes.
