Winning Streak: Kolor x Adidas

“Adidas was looking for a collaboration that would be the menswear equivalent of its performance line with Stella McCartney. It was very interesting – the line had to be functional as well as express something different,” says Abe who tuned in on the role sport has in our time-starved lives. “I was also thinking about the fun, social aspect of meeting friends for football or basketball. Much of the sportswear out there is just not that interesting,” says Abe.

The collection puts the fun and imagination back into performance kit. It includes a space-age silver down jacket with an asymmetrical zipper for mountain trekking; layered shorts; sports T shirts in club hues of port, navy, billiard-table green with flashes of silver and nifty zipper tops with colour inserts at the neck and arms. There will also be two new shoes available that utilise the Climaheat, Climachill, and Boost technologies from Adidas. Super-lightweight sneakers feature flashes of lime green or tangerine orange and trainers for mountain running have built-in ankle supports and crisscross lacings. Abe visited the Adidas archive in Nuremberg, Germany that houses a complete history of the brand and where rare exhibits have to be handled wearing white gloves. He also went deep into fabric research at the company’s HQ.

The upshot is a dynamic line with Kolor’s perfectionist sense of detail and handsome cuts. Our bet is that we will all want to join Abe on the Adidas by Kolor team – weekend sportsmen and medal winners alike.
