Embracing the Bottega effect

In the fickle world of fashion, who and what’s hot are frequently debated. But in 2020, there’s one fact no one is disputing: Daniel Lee’s Bottega Veneta is on fire. Fashion’s rising star took the reigns as creative director of the Italian heritage brand last season, and the waiting lists have been immense. Influencers, editors and stylistas alike are clamouring to find stores that haven’t sold out of his landmark square-toe sandals, mesh pumps and oversized clutches. And – if one is so lucky, well connected, or fast enough to get their hands on a piece – there’s no doubt it’ll be triumphantly paraded online like a trophy for everyone else’s likes... and envy.

Lee’s magic touch is all over his second season, from XXL slouchy totes, to mules stamped with his oversized- take on the brand’s signature woven leather method, Intrecciato.

This spring also sees the addition of Bottega’s luxurious lifestyle range (cue understated tableware and woven desk accessories) for the first time at Lane Crawford. Good luck nabbing a piece of your own – demand isn’t likely to subside.
