Designers this season were pairing animal prints loudly, clashing, and with enthusiasm.
Nicky Zimmermann outfitted model Taylor Hill in top-to-toe leopard spots; right down to the point of her court pumps. alexanderwang’s runway slithered in reams of python, from skirts to loafers to box bags galore. Alice + Olivia presented a menagerie of leopards, zebras, snakes, and butterflies, all co-existing peacefully. Ben Taverniti’s Unravel Project paired zebra print against python scales, and 3.1 Phillip Lim earned a plethora of tiger stripes. AW19 makes a case for animal prints — styled like neutrals.
Be a little ferocious this season. Treat this trend as you would a black turtleneck knit: worn boldly in layers without a second thought.
