Established in 1932, the family-run business rose to international fame when Walter Steiger Junior opened the first ready-to-wear Steiger boutique in Paris in 1974. Now run by him and his two sons, Walter Steiger’s designs embody the aura of “Swinging London”, many of which have revolutionised the shoe industry and become global wardrobe staples. Throughout his time, Steiger has collaborated with notable fashion houses including Chloé, Kenzo and Alaïa. His most recent project with Victoria Beckham’s collection has cemented his iconic Claw heel as a fashion shoe classic.

THE SHANK AND CUT

The particular cut of the décolleté is another Steiger innovation. It provides additional simplification to the design, keeping the shoe parallel to the sole for enhanced comfort.

THE STEIGER CLAW

Hitting the runways for the first time in 1973, the curved heel dubbed the “claw” has become known in the Italian manufacturing districts as the “Steiger Heel”. With its subtle and sensual curved profile, the heel mimics the natural foot by reproducing its simple shape.

THE GOLD LINING

A signature feature of all Steiger shoes and featuring for many years now, the gold lining is a symbol of the true classic.
