As ever, the arrival of the global art fair brings with it a burgeoning roster of satellite shows, events and parties that transform the city into a hive of culture and socializing. Its at the heart of what has grown into Hong Kong Art Week, a celebration of all things artistic that grows bigger and more ambitious every year. As well as the return of cultural festivals in Chai Wan and Wong Chuk Hang, and the jam-packed Hong Kong Art Gallery Association Art Gallery Night in Central and Sheung Wan, this year sees the launch of Art Central - a new fair from the people who started Art HK in 2008 - and the city’s inaugural amfAR Gala among a host of other notable openings, symposiums and soirees.

Split into four sectors – Galleries, Encounters, Insights and Discoveries – Art Basel runs the gamut from blue-chip galleries to emerging artists, from West to East, and from the intimate to the epic, making it a must for anyone and everyone.
