The Sunspel Story

British Basics Of Rich Retrospect
Read more about Sunspel below.

A pillar of classical British craftsmanship, Sunspel started as a humble textile manufacturer in 1860 by Thomas A Hill.

The brand’s legendary origins began in a storied Long Eaton factory, where most of their products are still made to this day. Since then the brand has evolved, garnering an enviable list of achievements. Some of their current bragging rights include collaborations with critically acclaimed designers such as Paul Smith and Thom Browne, appearances in James Bond films and a newly launched womenswear line. The English house continues the tradition to perpetually refine and perfect pieces including the classic Riviera Polo, T-Shirt and Boxer.

Sunspel is available at Lane Crawford ifc mall and Canton Road Hong Kong.

1860’S

The brand first made its debut by supplying high quality undergarments to the British empire. Principles of comfort, detail and quality were the foundations of their T-shirt.

1950’S

Working with their Long Eaton factory, Sunspel began its rise as a premium luxury underwear manufacturer, propelled in part by intensive research and innovation of the cellulock fabric.

THE T-SHIRT

Today’s world-class English Rowers swear by Sunspel's t-shirts. Made with superfine Egyptian cotton, the shirts give the athletes a fitted, clean and modern look yet are strong enough for the grueling demands of high-performance sports.

1980’S

As the official supplier of undergarments to Britian’s Royal Air Force, Sunspel soon had its products placed next to the likes of Parisian couture and luxury furs in the world’s finest shops - a significant step as a premium marker of their luxury positioning.

THE BOXER

The clean crisp white boxer gained overnight cult status when Sunspel’s boxers were featured in a 1950s-style Levi’s Launderette advertisement. The result: a rocketing cult status of new masculinity and virility. The brand’s popularity rises to a whole new level.

1990’S

Still passionate about creating simple everyday luxury to this day, the English brand continually honours traditional techniques of manufacturing with a modern sensibility. Beautifully engineered garments have lead to impressive collaborations including Paul Smith, Margaret Howell and Thom Browne.

THE POLO

The Sunspel polo shirt is possibly the most versatile wardrobe essential: less formal than a shirt, smarter than a t-shirt. Since then, this striking exemplar of British tailoring has become a staple of that dashing English character, James Bond. The Riviera Polo was specially designed for Daniel Craig in his debut Bond appearance.
