What are the standout pieces in the curated collection currently available at Lane Crawford, and what makes them unique?

Lane Crawford offers a diverse range of collections, particularly highlighting the new Carnival and Tiarè collections. These collections enhance the current high-end creative aesthetic through the use of exclusive and vibrant gemstones in a stunning array of colours.

Could you walk us through the craftsmanship process behind one of the most intricate pieces?

The Animalier collection poses a unique challenge, featuring intricate pieces like the elephant, horse, tiger, and the most demanding of all: the lion. Crafting a single lion ring takes over a month, as we meticulously set thousands of tiny rings by hand to create a mane that captures the lion’s dynamic essence, resembling the majestic creature itself.

Are there any symbolic elements or motifs that recur throughout your collections?

While we may not be as well-known in Hong Kong as we are in countries like the U.S., the Arab world, or Europe, we distinguish ourselves by creating 600 new models each year, making us one of the most innovative brands in the industry. This commitment to variety enhances our brand identity, as we prioritise creativity over mere recognition. If I were to highlight a constant source of inspiration, it would undoubtedly be the city of Venice and its stunning architectural details.

How do you ensure your collections remain innovative while maintaining the brand’s DNA?

Innovation is at the heart of our creations, as I mentioned earlier, but we also hold a deep respect for tradition and classic styles, ensuring we never veer into excessive showiness. Many of our early collections are now sought after by antique dealers, as they represent significant pieces of history in the world of jewellery.

Can you share any memorable moments or milestones from your collaboration with Lane Crawford over the years?

We have enjoyed a collaboration that has lasted over 30 years, yet we have struggled to fully showcase our design capabilities in Hong Kong. We are now making a concerted effort to express our strengths in this vibrant market in the near future.

How do you see the Roberto Coin brand evolving in the next five years, especially in Asia?

This is an excellent question, as we are now dedicating significant time and focus to expanding our brand across various countries in Asia. Currently, we have a presence in Malaysia and the Philippines, and we are making strides in Japan, with plans to open in South Korea soon. Additionally, we are active in China through Tmall, and due to the strong demand there, we are actively seeking new partnerships.
