Nike x Undercover = Gyakusou
2012-03-14 10:30:00.0For Spring/Summer 2012, revered Japanese designer Jun Takahashi collaborated with Nike for the fourth time to produce the Nike x Undercover Gyakusou collection. Inspired by the Chinese philosophical concept of yin and yang — the principle whereby “opposites” are seen as interconnected and interdependent — the latest Gyakusou range starkly contrasts the men’s and newly launched women’s collections.
Takahashi, the brainchild behind Japan’s coveted indie-fashion label, Undercover, has always been an advocate of the art of running. A marathon lover and dedicated member of Team GIRA (a small group of Tokyo-based runners who prefer to run in a counter-clockwise direction), Takahashi draws from his own experiences when designing casual, pragmatic active wear for the Gyakusou line.
Rooted at the core of Gyakusou is what Takahashi personally experiences when running: “meditation with adrenaline.” He also perfectly blends fashion and function, where minimalism, cutting-edge style and traditional craftsmanship are balanced with Nike’s technical innovation, high-performance design and free-movement form.
Unsurprisingly, the cult of Gyakusou is a worldwide phenomenon — and the latest collection merely confirms the designer’s beautiful, unique vision of “hardcore harmony.”
The Nike x Undercover Gyakusou line will be available at Lane Crawford’s ifc mall store in Hong Kong on April 2. For enquiries, please call our Personal Styling team on +852 2118 7688.
