MENSWEAR: MOODS OF THE SEASON
The most versatile and need-to-know wardrobe additions
Words by Bridget Barnett
As temperatures shift, so too do our feelings about styling. Here, we round up three highly adaptable, key Autumn Winter pieces to help you transition into cooler climes.
THE OVERSIZED BLAZER
As seen on the runways of Bottega Veneta and Jacquemus, this season, boxy blazers that appear almost two sizes too big are back in a big way. Offering a relaxed take on (home) office dressing, the look champions an understated palette of black, grey and navy, as well as traditional prints – think checks from oversize windowpane to classic plaid.
THE TECHNICAL PANT
We’ve made the case for functional outerwear in fashion, and ultra utilitarian pants are one of the latest incarnations. Combining modern waterproof fabrics and function-first details – drawstrings, pockets and elasticated trouser cuffs, to name a few – they’re easy to throw on (no ironing needed), comfortable and undisputedly cool.
THE RETRO SNEAKER
Futuristic kicks have been stomping all over the place for what feels like eons, but this season we’re all tied up in a love affair with the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Whether it be luxury interpretations by the likes of Fendi and Prada, or styles by sporting heavyweights Nike and adidas, nostalgic references are a well-trodden path.
