Summer weather is officially here, and you'll need these tips to keep your make-up picture perfect from dawn til dusk... to dawn again!
Prep & Prime
Start with a moisturiser that isn't oil-based for hydration that won’t clog pores, like TATCHA’s Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer. It sounds obvious, but primer is your first line of defence against make-up breakdown. Don't be afraid to layer more than one: moisturising primers will mean your skin doesn’t have to overcompensate with oil production, while mattifying ones will stop shine. A longwearing primer is an absolute must for your make-up to last – like social-media favourite SHISEIDO’s Glow Enhancing Primer SPF15 or YSL BEAUTÉ’s Touche Éclat Blur Primer.
You shouldn't skip eye primer just because you've done your face — not only does it stop eyeliner from moving around, it makes your eyeshadow colours more vibrant and less likely to fade. Choose a waterproof mascara like Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume Waterproof Mascara and a liquid eyeliner that won't disintegrate — the name of TOM FORD BEAUTY’s Emotionproof Eyeliner says it all.
Set & Forget
Anywhere your face tends to get oily (like the T-zone), or anywhere make-up might run (like the undereye area), is a good area to “bake”. Stipple in some concealer that doesn’t crease and then powder liberally with a mattifying loose powder such as GIORGIO ARMANI BEAUTY 's Micro-Fil™ Loose Powder, letting it set (aka the aforementioned “baking”) for a couple of minutes before you dust off the excess. To avoid a geisha-like mask finish, spritz on a setting spray like DIOR BEAUTY Hydra Life Fresh Reviver- Sorbet Water Mist to melt all your make-up together flawlessly. If eyebrows are your issue, try this three-step trick: powder them to start, filling in with brow powder and finally set them with a good brow gel like HOURGLASS Arch Brow Shaping Gel.
