Shanghai-born, Hong Kong-raised fine jewellery designer Samuel Kung is proving jade needn’t lack edge. The pioneering jadeite artist - who is also known for his commitment to the Chinese arts - is helping the emperor’s favourite stone make a comeback on the necks, ears and wrists of modern women around the world. With a knack for combining raw, polished forms, delicate diamond settings and traditional motifs in a way that perfectly balance sartorial East and West sensibilities, Kung’s creations manage to feel as classic as they do contemporary – cue the likes of a clover-inspired green jadeite cluster set upon a cross band ring, and prettiest pale lavender cubic jade drop earrings that swing dynamically from a diamond charm.
