Instant Hutong

As part of Lane Crawford’s PLATFORM initiative to help grow and nurture tomorrow’s new talent, we collaborated with Beijing-based Instant Hutong to create a visual display in store. Marcella Campa and Stefano Avesani are the brainchild behind the creative partnership, borne out of the desire to create ‘micro-urban interactions’. For SS15, Instant Hutong re-adapt their 180 Canvases installation – originally designed to give colour to the monochrome surroundings of historical Hutong neighbourhoods of Beijing – to create five different ‘Room of Wonders’. Inspired by the vibrant colour palette of Spring Summer, the installation gives the environment an unexpected sensory experience.

We also invited Instant Hutong to showcase their ‘Blinking City Discs’, in Lane Crawford Shanghai Times Square. Based on collages of several Hutong neighbourhoods of Beijing that have been transferred onto interactive lenticular discs, the exhibition will run from February to March, 2015.
