David Aquilina, our Lane Crawford menswear buyer, gives us his account of Paris and Milan’s menswear fashion week: the parties, the music and the models. These are stylish highlights and trend predictions for the Autumn/Winter 2012 season.

I like how everything is looking now, thanks to an influx of tailoring. Brands like Alexander McQueen and Burberry Prorsum dedicated significant parts of their collections to a real sophisticated level of tailoring. Rick Owens even started his show with a take on the classic white shirt and pleated trouser. It feels like autumn will see men looking very sleek. Even tuxedos are making a comeback, especially at Lanvin, where they engineered elements of black tie fabrics and shapes into their show.

Yannick Abrath. He is in nearly every show right now, but so grounded. He got his start as the house model at Raf Simons’ showroom, where he still is.

The restaurant Le Dauphin in Paris was off the hook! It had tapas-like small plates of celery and truffle risotto, tandoori squid, pork steamed dumplings, ceviche, and milk ice cream with olive oil. Even the wine was awesome. We got a bit carried away and were still drinking when the lights went off!

In Milan, U Barba in the Porta Romana district was the best. It was a traditional old school venue, of Genovese food, with massive wooden tables and an outdoor garden (lit up like a proper little winter wonderland). You could even bowl in the grass after dinner if you were up for it. The Neil Barrett team and Sylvie (who was featured in our Marcelo Burlon lab video) recommended it for their great seafood.

Hands down, the Boris Bidjan x Linda Farrow x Something Magazine after-party at Silencio. Everyone was there, as it was the last night of Paris Fashion Week.
