Don’t miss the exclusive
Kolor x Porter capsule
Junichi Abe takes time out to give us the low-down on his latest collaboration

Ask Kolor’s founder and Creative Director Junichi Abe why his favourite piece from the exclusive capsule collaboration with Porter is a wool-melton coat, and he’ll tell you straight: “I just like coats”.

It’s the succinct answer you would expect from a man who has made his name in crafting simultaneously straightforward and complex clothing. The Japanese designer is known for his often layered fusion-fabric pieces, and has taken his time introducing his brand to the wider fashion world, preferring to keep the fate of his clothes in his own hands.

While Junichi has worked with luggage and bag label Porter on a number of occasions – “I have worked with them many times and always believe that we are able to make high-quality, trustworthy products”, he tells me – this collaboration sees the arrival of detachable bags on a number of styles. They’re pieces we’re backing as your next staple for autumn.

We set Junichi the question of why he’d collaborate at all, is he of the opinion that the future of fashion lies in this exchange of ideas? “I think by sharing skills and images that we don’t have in common, there’s a potential that something new will arise,” he explains. “I prefer it as an occasional thing, I would like to make it ourselves, however creating something with others will give us inspiration. I [hope] that will impact Kolor in a good way.”

Look over the capsule collection and its evident ‘good’ is an understatement. Here, you’ll find the solution to smart dressing, clothes that transform – are you wearing it with or without the removable bag? – that work hard, that add a fresh edge to your look without being contrived.

Alongside the rest of the Autumn Winter 2018 Kolor line, you’ve got your downtime look sorted.
