Since 1999, Japanese designer Chitose Abe has reinvented her signature knitwear collection under her own label, Sacai.
Having learned the ropes during her eight years at Comme des Garçons with Rei Kawakubo and Junya Watanabe, Abe has developed her own cult following with Sacai.
Characterised by juxtapositions of contrasting textures and fabrics, Sacai is about splicing pieces and patterns together to seamlessly create a collective of innovative hybrid pieces. The results are feminine shapes with cascades of pleats, flounces and chiffons balanced with elements of classic menswear tailoring. Detail is key for Sacai.
