Volume has been big news in fashion, but for Winter it exploded. At Balenciaga, Demna Gvasalia reveled in materiality and technology with foam-backed velvet, tweed and silk creating modular shapes that were first sampled in a 3D printer. Outerwear reached overwhelming proportions with coats made to look like a pile of numerous items compressed together in Cristobal Balenciaga’s favourite trapezoid shape. “Real brilliance, full of ideas that were pushed to the cusp but were still wearable,” says Charlotte Stockdale, Stylist and Co-founder of tech accessories brand, Chaos.

Thinking big was the order of the day as Chitose Abe at Sacai revved up her hybridization skills with striped blazers that morphed into puffa coats, and layered poncho skirts and blouses worn with mismatched exotic animal print heels.
