Born in Poland, photographer Peter Lindbergh is recognised for his intense and dramatic photographs, which employ the cinematic language of Fellini and early German filmmakers.

His deeply saturated black and white photographs resonate a story-within-a-story, intentionally playing with traditional archetypes of women in photography -dancers, actresses, heroines - to define and redefine the narratives of the women who inhabit his world.

“The most important part of fashion photography, for me, is not the models, it's not the clothes; it's that you are responsible for defining what a woman today is. That, I think, is my job.”
