Summer may just be hitting its stride but for those in the know, the new season starts now. Lane Crawford rounds up the best of the new season’s most-wanted collections so you can get a head start – and more mileage - on the key pieces that will form the foundation of your Autumn Winter 2016 wardrobe.
It could be because Neil Barrett has so expertly nailed the formula between sportswear, tailoring and street culture or that he gradually evolves each season, balancing that fine line between relevancy and accessibility, but the British designer’s creations have become the mainstay of the modern man’s wardrobe. This season, all the old faithful’s are there – neoprene and satin bomber jackets, panelled sweatshirts and print tees – and all his signature thunderbolt and modernist prints.
Valentino’s iconic jackets are refreshed this season with new seasonal patterns and embroideries including the label’s souvenir jackets, the must-have outerwear that continues its dominance on both the catwalks and sidewalks. Valentino’s upgraded satin version features the iconic Camubutterfly with hand-cut and sewn butterflies that delivers luxe street impact.
Creative Director Alessandro Michele continues his transformative magic at Gucci, stamping his signature vintage-inspired eccentric cool on the highly anticipated Pre-Autumn menswear collection. His idiosyncratic new aesthetic, defined by complex embroideries, grandiose prints and busy patterns, reverberated throughout the fashion world.
Riccardo Tisci takes us on a journey to Berlin City this Pre-Autumn 2016 as French couture craftsmanship rubs shoulders with German functionality. Fabrics are fashioned into architectural Bauhaus-inspired designs that create a complete wardrobe; think hand-placed and embroidered metal chains on knits, silver zips applied and sewn to create graphic lines on shirts and micro jacquard on suits. Denim is sharp and faded, destroyed and patchworked in all its forms – jeans, shirts and jackets.
