Five Step Beauty:
Making Waves
The modern way to curl
The holiday season is all about the glitz and glamour, and when it comes to your hair - is there anything more glamorous than good old fashioned waves?
While a small pool of us may naturally blessed with textured, lifted locks that appear perfectly bodied with not much more than a little sprucing, most of us aren’t quite so lucky. Here, we show you how to nail a slightly undone take on wavy, voluminous hair. The result? An A-grade hair-game that looks simultaneously extra and effortless this holiday season.
Step One
Wash your hair using a light shampoo and minimal conditioner. Towel dry, flip hair upside down, and spray with volumising spray and heat protector.
Step Two
Part hair in the middle. Roughly blow dry hair, using your fingertips to create volume in the direction of the air.
Step Three
Section off your hair by creating a “top” layer and an “underneath” layer. Clip the top layer away from the underneath layer. Using a long tail comb, gently tease the underneath layer by backcombing towards the root from 2-3 inches away. Unclip the top layer.
Step Four
Take a 1-inch section of hair, and using a hair straighter on a vertical angle, twist the straighter as you move down the hair shaft. Repeat this process until you’ve twisted waves throughout all your hair.
Step Five
Finish by spraying your roots and strands with texturising spray. Undo waves by using your fingers to run spray through hair. Finally, flip your hair’s part around 2-3 times before placing it back in the middle.
