Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek, famed for his recycled wood furniture, has dreaming of making printed furniture since 2010 but it is only with digital printing technology that the idea could blossom.

The line of plywood printed stools made in collaboration with NLXL Design Studio is an ingenious fusion of masterpiece art and the utilitarian seat. “This product can only exist through today’s techniques: CNC wood cutting machines and wood-enabled printers. I thought it would be a great idea to combine these techniques with century old Dutch masters from the Rijksmuseum collection,” says innovator Hein Eek.

If ever there were a collection that was evidence that patience is a virtue, it is this. Sometimes, beauty really does come to those who wait.
