Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation
Reviewer Rosie Lai, Senior Writer
Coverage
“Coverage is on the higher end of the scale; blemish and lines disappear under its thin, matte layer but my friends still had to do a double-take to take to see if I was wearing any makeup.”
Blendability
“The liquid did look scarily thick when I first applied it, but after a bit more polishing it began to blend seamlessly into the skin. The expert opinion that continual blending is key is obviously true.”
Finish
“The oil-free formula dried quickly and is the definition of matte. In minutes, I forgot I was even wearing foundation which is exactly what I’m looking for in this humid, tropical weather.”
Best For
Oily skin or anyone with blemishes they want to conceal with a natural yet immaculate finish.
Tom Ford Traceless Foundation Stick
Reviewer Esther Lau, Beauty & Wellbeing Brand Manager
Coverage
“As I anticipated from its creamy texture, the coverage is amazing so it was important to find the right shade match.”
Blendability
“I love this formulation because it is silky smooth to both apply and blend. The stick applicator also allowed me to focus on more problematic areas, though it was a little challenging to reach finer spots like the corners of the nose so for those who like to use the fingers to apply their base, you will still need a Beauty Blender or brush to blend it out.”
Finish
“Although it leaves an almost-untraceable, healthy and dewy glow - perfect for summer - I’m not sure it will hold up a full day in this Hong Kong heat. But if you’re okay with topping up throughout the day, then this one is a keeper.”
Best For
This rich and creamy stick gives incredible coverage on blemishes, so anyone wanting to cover imperfections would love it.
YSL Beauté Blanc Pur Couture BB Cream
Reviewer Jennifer Cardenas, Managing Editor
Coverage
“Incredibly light in coverage, this is one to wear on a good skin day to make your skin look even better.”
Blendability
“The texture is quite thin and runny so I had to be careful of over-applying as it takes a while for it to blend thoroughly and be absorbed into the skin. A little goes a long way.”
Finish
“Known for its brightening effect, the formula, which almost looks as if it contains shimmer, leaves a lovely dewy - but somewhat shiny sheen - on the skin. As it’s also quite moisturising, I had to dust some loose powder on top to combat the shine.”
Best For
Brightening and radiance. This would be amazing for anyone who currently has clear skin and who wants something that gives a healthy ‘glow-from-within-look.’
Diorskin Forever Perfect Cushion
Reviewer Larissa Lam, Senior Executive, Beauty & Wellbeing Brand Management
Coverage
“The coverage is extremely good for a foundation cushion but drier skins might find it a little matte.”
Blendability
“As with most cushions, the best way to blend this was to begin patting light layers onto the skin, as then I could also control how much I applied based on humidity levels.”
Finish
“I have dry skin so matte formulas don’t tend to work as well on me, however this formula dries matte within a few minutes while still maintaining luminosity.”
Best For
Buildability. This cushion would suit those that like to reapply during the day as it can be as lightweight or full finish as you want.
