IMPACT

Impact refers to our social responsibility efforts as they relate to The Environment and Stakeholders. We focus on the key aspects of this area by measuring and managing our packaging, waste and energy.

in aspects that include:
DESIGN STANDARDS
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
EVENTS MANAGEMENT
WASTE RESOURCES
CLIMATE CHANGE
SUPPLY CHAIN PROCUREMENT
FINANCIAL CONTROL
PACKAGING

Packaging refers broadly to our bags, boxes and wrapping used in stores for items purchased by customers. The areas of impact include the production of packaging, our packaging procedures as to how much we use, and ultimately considerations that the packaging will become waste when discarded by the customer.

To make our packaging production and usage more socially responsible, we work with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved vendors for our packaging materials. We now also flat pack our bags and boxes to reduce shipping volume and therefore minimise our carbon footprint.

LIGHTING & AIR CONDITIONING

Our Lane Crawford Chengdu IFS store opening in March 2014, provided our most progressive steps in considering the impact of lighting at the design stage. A third of our fixtures use low wattage LED which brings significant electricity cost savings and carbon footprint reductions, with operational cost reductions redirected to support social responsibility initiatives or elsewhere in the business.

Data centre air conditioning is set at a standard 23 degrees in order to optimise the energy consumption of servers. In China stores, air conditioning is set at 24 degrees.

CARBON FOOTPRINT

Climate change is a broad topic and the science around it suggests the amount of manmade carbon dioxide (CO2) going into the atmosphere is contributing to global warming. In general, CO2 is produced from generating electricity at power plants as well as transportation. Our carbon footprint is the amount of CO2 we produce as a result of company related electricity use and transportation, particularly air travel. By conserving our energy usage combined with limiting unnecessary air travel, our carbon footprint will be reduced. Subsequent cost savings from these efforts can be directed towards other corporate social responsibility initiatives.
