Menswear designer and one of the finalists of Lane Crawford’s Creative Call Out 2015, Feng Chen Wang was inspired by the journey of going home for her AW18 collection. The designer lives across several different continents, counting Shanghai, London and New York as her bases, thus making us consider the notion that a physical location is beyond what defines ‘home’.

This collection featured highlights of gold and warm orange hues reflecting the sunset that marks the end of a day’s journey. In reference, to Wang’s childhood home, the number 239 was embroidered throughout the collection. Accessories were inspired household items; a telephone shaped backpack and oversized key hung from a belt, to evoke a sense of small but meaningful home comforts.

The Royal College of Art MA graduate made her runway debut with her SS16 collection at New York Fashion Week through the VFILES Runway. With shows for Fashion East MAN in London under her belt, the designer returned to present her collections at New York Fashion Week.

Inspired by her own life experiences, Wang prefers to focus on conceptual ideas rather than gender when designing her collections so it is not surprising to find her unrestricted designs appeal to males, females, young or old - she already has a strong celebrity following from Beyoncé, Rihanna, M.I.A. and basketball player Russell Westbrook, further cementing the designer’s fluid aesthetic.
