The Transitional Beauty Switch-Up Here’s how to adjust your daily routine to suit the season change
With summer coming to a close, naturally we’re starting to think about how to gear up our wardrobes for the winter months. But what about gearing up your beauty routine, too?
The beauty products that may have been helping you live your best life all summer might not be quite-so-right when it comes to coping with the cooler, drier months ahead. Here, Lane Crawford breaks down five key types of beauty products that can help you adjust to the pending season change.
Get Rich Quick
Some may not realise it - particularly if you’re living in a tropical climate - but just a slight drop in temperature can drastically affect your skin. Even if you’re on the oily side, by simply adding another layer of hydration to your routine, you’ll be able to stave off that ‘pinched’ feeling. If you’re dry all over, now is the time to amp up your body and face moisturiser to include oils and heavy duty cream. Remember, prevention is the way forward.
Fake A Golden Glow
Keep your summer glow going long after the heat fades with a faux bronze-infused flush. For those who prefer a healthy sun-kissed look rather than a full tan, opt for a highlighter speckled with golden tones, rather than rosy or champagne hues. Remember, just to apply where the sun would naturally hit your face - cheekbones, nose, and forehead - for the most believable “I just got back from the Bahamas” look.
Be Dramatic
The season change signals a wardrobe colour palette transition that should extend to your beauty hues, too. While your lips and tips where likely to be painted in bright pops and pretty pastels all summer long, winter presents the perfect opportunity to switch it up with moody, deep, dramatic hues that feel ironically fresh. Think mulled wine, burnt clementine and glossy amber.
Go Deep
Whether it be booking in for a deep cleaning laser and light treatment, such as Skin Laundry, or investing in an electronic cleansing gadget, use the transitional period as an opportunity to renew your skin by giving it a proper deep clean, gently exfoliating away summer’s dull skin to reveal an instantly plumper, fresher look.
Get Even
Summer is when our skin tends to have the hardest time with uneven skin tone, thanks to harmful sunrays which bring our skin’s pigmentation to the surface. Post-summer is the perfect time to repair skin with brightening and whitening treatments that work to even out your skin’s consistency.
