Menswear Brands to Know The new need-to-know brands dropping at Lane Crawford

Axel Arigato

Swedish label Axel Arigato epitomises the minimalist design aesthetic of Scandinavia and Japan. With a distinct focus on craftsmanship, co-founders Max Svärdh and Albin Johansson have amassed a cult following, not just on social media, but for their clean, less-is-more sneakers. Functional, versatile and made from the most premium of leathers, each sneaker is a must-have that works seamlessly with every look.

Why do we love it?

You can never have too many pairs of simple sneakers and Axel Arigato’s is the most coveted this season.

Kiko Kostadinov

Bulgarian talent Kiko Kostadinov has been one to watch since his namesake label launched in Spring Summer 2016. The Central Saint Martin’s graduate and British Fashion Council New Gen winner’s directional collection, heavily influenced by uniforms and workwear, is arguably one of the hottest streetwear looks of now. Kostadinov has also been named creative director of a British legacy label - more on that later.

Why do we love it?

Kostadinov’s knack for innovative pattern cutting and intricate garment construction.

Spalwart

Stockholm based Christoffer Brattin and Fredrik Johansson had been working in the shoe industry for over 20 years when they stumbled across an old Slovakian factory and discovered a retro shoe mould from the 1950s. Brattin brought it back to Sweden and so Stalwart was born.

Why do we love it?

A modern take on a vintage style.

Y/Project

Y/Project designer Glenn Martens is a genius when it comes to combining classical streetwear elements and tailoring in an eclectic way. Drawing on historical and subcultural references, expect gothic stamps paired with 90s influence, deconstructed shapes mixed with unusual finishes and a heavy dose of Parisian nonchalance.

Why do we love it?

For pushing classic menswear into experimental new extremes.

Delada

The brainchild of Russian designer Lada Komarova, DELADA is a young British label inspired by the designer’s native heritage. Using innovative techniques with an experimental edge the brand reinterprets classics to craft distinctive pieces. It may reference the past, but this is definitely one forward-think brand.

Why do we love it?

Avant-garde streetwear that draws on the past, present and future.
