How To Be More PhotogenicFeiping Chang reveals the secrets behind her multi-million viewed wedding posts
Taipei-born, Hong Kong-based fashion blogger Feiping Chang hosted a three-day wedding celebration last year in Capri, Italy, that amassed over three million views across different social media platforms. We caught up with her to get her insider beauty advice as to how to look your best on the big day.
Besides hiring good photographer and make-up artists who understand your preference and bridal style, it is important for the bride-to-be to know and enhance your best features. “I wanted to look like the best version of myself, so I didn’t look for inspiration photos. What looks good on another person might not necessary translate to me,” Chang says. For instance, “contouring is really important as there’s so much photography on the day and it really helps you to look your best from all angles.”
“My wedding was actually on the third day of our celebrations in Capri, so by that time, I have already broken all the bridal rules of not drinking and eating too much, but I did try to limit my sodium intake to prevent water retention,” Chang says. “In the morning of the wedding I also gave myself a face massage with Shiseido’s Future Solution LX Intensive Firming Contour Serum to de-puff as much as possible.” To avoid a puffy and swollen face, drink more water to balance out alcohol and try to get as much sleep as you can the night before the big event.
In order to achieve a radiant look, “I also used Estée Lauder’s RE-NUTRIV Ultimate Diamond Revitalizing Mask Noir to achieve an instantly visible brightening effect. Clé de Peau’s lip serum is also a must for me to make my lips instantly smoother and plumper. Makeup-wise, Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow really gives your skin that lit-from-within look.”
“My top tip would be to use a mineral powder foundation instead of liquid,” reveals Chang. “If you are having an outdoor or summer wedding, it can prevent the makeup from melting.” And it goes without saying to use long wearing products at every stage so that you don’t waste precious time doing lots of touch ups – “it’s your big day, there’s too much to enjoy, don’t waste it worrying about makeup!”
Last but not least, also pay attention to how your better half will look on the wedding photos. It’s easily forgotten in the scheme of things, but as Chang admits “remember to wear a natural lip color, or a liquid lipstick that doesn’t transfer if you’re going for a bold colour, because there’s definitely a lot of kissing on your big day, and you really don’t want to get your lipstick all over the groom!”
