Five Step Beauty The Ultimate Blow Out Who needs a blow dry bar?
Learning how to perfect a classic salon-worthy blow-dry - that achieves that sleek yet voluminous long-lasting look - without having to visit a salon is the ultimate timesaving skill worth learning.
Here, learn how to properly blow out your locks yourself with our step-by-step guide - it’s easier than you think.
Step one
Start with washed, towel dried hair. Apply heat protection cream from the roots to the tips and add volume spray to the roots for extra body.
Step two
In 5cm sections, blow-dry the top half portion of your hair against the direction of your standard hair parting until half-dry e.g. if your part is naturally to the left, blow-dry your hair towards to the right. This will create volume.
Blow dry the remaining hair from the roots to the tips at a 90-degree angle, keeping the blow dryer’s nozzle at least ten inches away from your hair.
Step three
When your hair is roughly half dry, clip up the top half of your hair using duckbill clips. Taking a 5cm section of hair from the bottom of your hair, use a paddle brush to follow the brush with the blow dryer - always keeping the nozzle in the direction of your hair shift, not against it.
Once the bottom of your hair is dry, remove duckbill clips and repeat process for top portion of hair.
Step four
To ensure that you are thoroughly blow-drying your hair, move your locks to the side and inspect all the sections with your fingers to see if you missed any areas.
On any portions that still need drying, simply let the blow dryer’s nozzle follow your fingers.
Step five
Spray hairspray on the roots, and underneath hair to maintain volume. Finish with a blast of cold air to seal your cuticles and a spritz of shine spray.
