Everyday Beauty: Lianna Man A ‘from the inside out’ approach that delivers high impact beauty
“You are responsible for the way you feel, you can control that. When you’re feeling great, you look great,” shares Lianna Man, Lane Crawford’s Vice President of Beauty & Wellbeing and Jewellery. As we peek into her daily beauty and wellness routine, it’s quickly evident that she practices what she preaches.
“I made a habit to sleep with no blinds so I now wake up to natural sunlight, which during the summer months here in Hong Kong is usually 6am. After my 7-year daughter Megan has been ushered onto the school bus, I start the morning with a warm glass of lemon water. It’s one of the best ways to wake up your body by alkalising and hydrating.
I keep my morning skincare routine simple: I tone and moisturise, and always use sunscreen protection. Next I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, a bronzer, blusher and finishing power all in one, and I always finish with lipstick. I feel very naked without any colour. My go-to to shade is orangey-red – I must have about 20 different versions. My all-time favourite is NARS Heat Wave which is a shade I have worn for years.
I also love Estée Lauder Victoria Beckham Chilean Sunset which is very similar colour, but with a slightly more matte texture. My makeup never takes more than ten minutes.
When it comes to my hair, I try to avoid using too much product. Conditioner is a must for me, otherwise it’s just gets very tangled and unmanageable. I like the minty freshness of the Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner, but my best buy has to be the Dyson Supersonic™ - I used to dread blow-drying my thick hair, but with this, it dries in no time.
For styling I use a beach wave spray to enhance my natural waves, with a little help from the GHD Wave Wand to give a slight ‘S’ wave finish.
I am obsessed with crystal healing and during the day, I’m never without my Vitajuwel water bottle. It has high quality gems inside, to literally infuse water with the healing properties of the stones. I’m drinking a wellness blend, which combines rose quartz, amethyst and clear quarts to charge water with healing, purifying and loving energies. During the day, I also make a conscious effort to give my body the nutrients and minerals that it needs, including a goodness-packed green juice.
At the end of the day, I like to indulge a bit. I have a full selection of masks and oils; working in beauty, I get to explore a lot of new products. One of my favorite nightly routines is using the Vanessa Megan Prebiotic + C Brightening Exfoliator, which is 100% natural using some of the purist organic ingredients. It leaves my face feeling squeaky clean and refreshed.
My set nightly routine is: cleanse, tone, night cream, but depending on the season, Hong Kong gets very humid but with air conditioning, the extra hydration helps. I would therefore also add in a serum or oil to my routine. Serums are best for hydration also help in strengthening skin cells with their active ingredients and oils are becoming popular again for its nourishing and anti-ageing properties.
I love a good glow, the kind that comes with super hydrated skin. One of my favorite oils is Chantecaille Rose De Mai Face Oil which gives a lovely silky finish. The Aromatherapy Associates Destress muscle gel is also great for unwinding and smells so good! I finish the day by drinking a calming tea.
Currently I’m drinking the THE SUPER ELIXIR: SLEEP WELLE Fortified Calming Tea. It has a terrible smell at first due to the valerian root, but once you add hot water it turns fruity. I find it so addictive. It’s my new nightcap.”
