The skin around eyelids is the thinnest on the body, meaning pesky blood vessels are always more prominent in this delicate area. Lane Crawford asked international makeup artist Wendy Rowe for a couple of expert pointers on how to alleviate those dark shadows, pronto.

Firstly, pick the right concealer tone. As Rowe points out, “Peach eradicates blue, so a concealer with an orangey tone works best to help erase dark circles under the eyes.” Top that with a cover-up that perfectly matches your skin tone and use a highlighter to neutralise the entire area. “I love pen highlighters as they are so easy to use and you can be quite precise when applying,” says Rowe. Create a triangle under each eye, with the point facing towards your cheek, and blend with a sponge. Not only does this conceal dark circles, but also the shape is a flattering way of lifting the focus upwards towards the eyes.
