On and beyond the tired rhetoric of ‘must-haves’ and ‘statements’, that pervades so much fashion, Phillip Lim has the rare ability to embrace a sense of wellbeing, a sense of what’s lovely now. That grace can be seen in the perky neon floral prints that might make up a zipper front silk ruffled dress; LA sunlight bleached out denims; topstitched satin bombers over bikini tops and high-waist shorts (that can be worn in town); and the best cut in slouchy pants. Men will be equally charmed by voluminous double-breasted long line ‘zoot suits,’ in pinstripes, voile shirts and blown up painterly florals that skitter over kimono cut jackets and cropped cuffed pants.

In an era of shouty style, the calm dignity, the sunny freedom offers a welcome respite. Plus, you get the feeling that other people that like Lim, might just be friends in the making.
